How to Know God

Religion won't save you. Having a relationship with Jesus will. The book of Romans provides a simple picture of how to receive God's grace.

Romans 3:23 (NIV) - for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God

Romans 6:23 (NIV) - For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 5:8 (NIV) - But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 10:9-10 (NIV) - That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

Romans 10:13 (NIV) - for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

If you understand your need for mercy, just pray: "Dear Jesus, thank you for loving me and giving Your life for me. Now I reach out for You, too. I know I need You and want to be with You in heaven someday. Please forgive my sins and come into my life. Please receive me and begin to fulfill Your purpose for my life. Teach me Your ways and create in me a pure heart. I claim Your promise of salvation and commit my life to you. Thank you, Lord. Amen."
