We do not collect any information from visitors to the web site. We do not track how many times you visit the site or what pages you visit. We do not log your IP address. We may collect what web broswer version you are using, to help us to determine what browser types we should make sure the site works with.
If you fill out a form on the web site, we may ask for your email address so that we can contact you. This information is optional.
The Light List is a once-a-day email containing a bible verse and a "thought", and is provided at no cost to subscribers. It is non-denominational, using verses from the old and new testaments. For content examples, just visit the archives page. The list is a "double opt-in" list, meaning that you must request to be on the list, and then confirm via email (from the email account you wish to subscribe to the list) that you really want to subscribe. This is to eliminate the possibility of anyone "signing you up" without your knowledge. We honor unsubscribe requests within two days.
Signing up for The Light List only requires that you provide us with your email address. We collect no other information.
We are very concerned about the misuse of email address lists on the Internet today, and we have taken extreme measures to secure our list of addresses. We never disclose any addresses on the list to any third parties. Your email address will not be sold, exchanged, or used by us in any other such fashion. It is only used to send you the Light each morning. The database that contains the actual addresses is only connected to the Internet for a very brief period each day, while list maintenance and message distribution is taking place. All information in the database is also PGP encrypted so that even if someone were to get at it it would not be of any use without the corresponding decryption key. The server itself is located behind two locked doors, inside a locked cabinet, and all three are connected to a monitored alarm system with phone and radio connections to the nearby security monitoring station. Rest assured that no one will get your address from us.
The daily email never contains any advertising, and never will. You have our word on that. It really is absolutely free, there is no catch.
Yes, free. There is no catch. It's a ministry, we feel led to provide this service using our own time and resources. We pray that it blesses you and reminds you to spend time with God each day, meditating on His word.

The Light Ministry web site and The Light List is open to children under 13. We do not collect any age or birth date information, so we don't even care how old you are. If you are under 13, please get your parents' permission before connecting to the Internet, ok? There is no content on the site or in the list that anyone (except possibly atheists) would find inappropriate for minors.
We detest unsolicited commercial email, a.k.a. Spam. You'll not get any from us. The Light List is a double opt in only email list. It is non-commercial, non-profit, and never sent unsolicited.
It's much easier to unsubscribe than to subscribe. Just send a message to any address at thelightministry.com and state your intentions. We'll have you off the list- usually before the next one goes out. Some people may receive one final message before we get to removing their address from the list, but never more than one. This can happen because of the delay between when we get your unsubscribe request, when the database is available for maintenance, and when the messages are sent out.
